On The Estate
Inshriach consists of 200 acres of natural woodland and pasture, bordered on the North side by the river Spey, and to the south by the Inshriach Forest and the foothills of the Cairngorms. We have a herd of around 130 Blackface sheep on the fields and we have 3 miles along the river spey with fishing, swimming and picnic spots aplently. There are miles of walks straight out of the house suitable for all abilities and ambitions.
In the oak woods you can find a workshop which houses Woodentom and his green woodworking and carving operation. Courses in spoon carving, bowl making, furniture making, axe throwing, tool sharpening and other wood based pursuits run throughout the year. Have a look at Tom’s website for more details.
A mile from the house, down by the river, are the wood fired sauna and hot tub, these are available to the house by appointment because they are in the peaceful domain of our glamping operation.
Down on the farm the old chicken sheds now house the Inshriach Distillery, Saloon bar and inconvenience store. Made famous back in 2015 when it won Channel 4’s Shed of the Year competition it is now the house of our poorly promoted but extremely well received gin. Only open to guests (and even then not always open) the shop stocks all manner of useful and useless items to make your stay at Inshriach more amusing.
We have three miles of single bank fishing, covering the bottom 400 yards of the River Feshie then downstream along the Spey as far as Rothiemurchus. Day tickets are available from Inshriach Farm for £25 per day. You need to bring your own equipment and waders are recommended to make the most of the stretch because it is wild and varied and very beautiful. Please email us in advance if you would like a ticket because we take exclusive use bookings with the house.
